The freeware PC Inspector File Recovery reconstructs accidentally deleted files. It can restore deleted files with the original date and time. File Recovery can even rescue files from a directory where no reference is available.
The freeware supports the file types ARJ, AVI, BMP, CDR, DOC, DXF, DBF, XLS, EXE, GIF, HLP, HTML, HTM, JPG, LZH, MID, MOV, MP3, PDF, PNG, RTF, TAR, TIF, WAV, ZIP and runs on the FAT 12/16/32 and NTFS file system.
Please note: The software cannot be installed on the same drive from which you would like to restore your files, but rather must be started from a second, independent drive.
Verdict: The ‘PC Inspector File Recovery’ does its job very well, but has not been developed any further for years. More up to date and also free: Recuva.
